The vendor in the composition, accompanied in the distance by a water carrier, reflects in 18th-century Spain and under the popular costumes of the time, the tradition of compositions on street vendors established in Italy in the early 17th century by Annibale Carraci in a popular and widespread series of etchings. In this case, it is a tapestry cartoon of the Ambassadors’ Hall at El Escorial, based on a small sketch.
