This cardboard was used as a template for the tapestries made for Mary of Hungary. After forming an army of considerable size, the corps disembarked and laid siege to the fortress of La Goleta, the key to Tunis, which fell after 28 days of fighting. Once the fortress was taken, the army headed for Tunis with the tercios in the vanguard, created by the ordinances of 1534 and made up of veterans of the Italian and Pavia wars, while in the rear there were 10,000 infantrymen under the command of the Duke of Alba. Four companies of infantry remained at La Goleta.
