The video illustrates the scientific and political significance of Coronelli’s two globes, which offer a concise representation of the Earth and sky, as known at the time, but detailed thanks to their exceptional size (more than 2.3 tonnes by 4 meters in diameter). They are objects of knowledge and emblems of power; originally intended for the Palace of Versailles, today they can be admired in the West Room of the National Library of France.
