En 1607, tres barcos ingleses financiados por la London Virginia Company cruzan el Atl\u00e1ntico en busca de un tesoro que creen que se encuentra en el Nuevo Mundo. Alcanzan tierra cerca del r\u00edo James, en Virginia, y fundan el asentamiento de Jamestown. Por su origen arist\u00f3crata, los colonos tienen grandes dificultades para sobrevivir, al tiempo que se va extinguiendo su sue\u00f1o de encontrar oro. El capit\u00e1n John Smith organiza una expedici\u00f3n, pero los miembros de la tribu Powhatan les atacan, dando muerte a todos a excepci\u00f3n de Smith.
