En este panorama se inscribe el jugador, que deber\u00eda hacerse hueco entre grandes personalidades hist\u00f3ricas gracias a las dotes como comerciante o directamente a trav\u00e9s de las contiendas militares. En esta entrega se mantienen las 60 ciudades portuarias y los 16 tipos hist\u00f3ricos de barcos existentes, tales como los galeones o las fragatas.
\nPor primera vez en la prol\u00edfica saga de Port Royale y como novedad m\u00e1s importante frente a sus antecesores, el juego posee un modo multijugador para 4 jugadores en red local o mediante internet, ali\u00e1ndose o compitiendo por fundar la compa\u00f1\u00eda comercial m\u00e1s relevante de los parajes caribe\u00f1os.
