Esta entrega de la saga Age of Empires se centra en 14 de las civilizaciones m\u00e1s poderosas de Europa, Am\u00e9rica y Asia, abarcando un periodo hist\u00f3rico situado entre los siglos XVI y XIX. En esta edici\u00f3n definitiva se han remasterizado los gr\u00e1ficos y la m\u00fasica, incluyendo todas las expansiones publicadas hasta la fecha y otros contenidos nunca vistos hasta ahora. Por su parte, las civilizaciones disponibles incluyen a Espa\u00f1a, Inglaterra, Francia, Portugal, Rusia, Alemania y otras tantas.
\nLa ambientaci\u00f3n del juego se centra en la \u00e9poca de la colonizaci\u00f3n europea de Am\u00e9rica, en la que las naciones del Viejo Mundo se enfrentar\u00e1n a las nuevas potencias en desarrollo. Como novedad frente a la anterior entrega, cada civilizaci\u00f3n cuenta con una metr\u00f3poli recreada en 3D con todo lujo de detalle y se a\u00f1ade progresi\u00f3n a las tropas mediante elementos de rol.
