Completan la escena un perro agazapado y una red sobre el \u00e1rbol que enmarca al grupo. Form\u00f3 parte del primer encargo que recibi\u00f3 Goya para la Real F\u00e1brica de Tapices de Santa B\u00e1rbara en 1774-75. La composici\u00f3n fue invenci\u00f3n de Francisco Bayeu que, seg\u00fan los documentos conservados, estaba en consonancia con el uso cineg\u00e9tico que hicieron los monarcas en el Real Sitio de El Escorial durante el oto\u00f1o.
