Las Flotas de Nueva Espa\u00f1a unieron Espa\u00f1a y el Virreinato de M\u00e9xico durante la Edad Moderna. La ruta de esta Flota estuvo establecida, saliendo habitualmente por el r\u00edo Guadalquivir, desde Sevilla-Sanl\u00facar de Barrameda y, desde 1680, desde la bah\u00eda de C\u00e1diz. Una vez en alta mar se dirig\u00edan a las Islas Canarias, y de all\u00ed tomaban rumbo a Am\u00e9rica, hasta llegar al puerto de Veracruz. La imagen muestra precisamente la salida de la Flota desde el puerto de Veracruz hacia C\u00e1diz, en un viaje de regreso a Espa\u00f1a. Estas flotas transportaban hacia Am\u00e9rica, principalmente, productos agrarios y manufacturados procedentes de Europa, y tra\u00edan hacia el viejo continente plata y productos coloniales como grana cochinilla, cueros, carey, jengibre o cacao, entre otros. Tambi\u00e9n se embarcaban productos asi\u00e1ticos como la seda, que hab\u00edan llegado a Nueva Espa\u00f1a por medio del Gale\u00f3n de Manila.
