Jan Miel refleja c\u00f3mo los barberos del siglo XVII realizaron su actividad. La profesi\u00f3n de barbero era una de las mejor remuneradas teniendo en cuenta el tiempo empleado, la acci\u00f3n en s\u00ed y los materiales utilizados. En este sentido, no conllevaba un tiempo excesivo, los materiales para llevar a cabo su profesi\u00f3n no fueron costosos y el tiempo empleado no era demasiado. Sin embargo, la remuneraci\u00f3n ten\u00eda que ver principalmente, no con la destreza, sino con la responsabilidad que ten\u00eda pasando la cuchilla por el cuello del hombre que afeitara. Por ello, el barbero del rey contaba con una remuneraci\u00f3n generosa ya que ten\u00eda a su disposici\u00f3n el cuello del monarca.
