Ante el tapial de una casa de le\u00f1adores que asoma a la derecha del lienzo, est\u00e1 situada una carreta tirada por bueyes cargada con vigas de madera reci\u00e9n cortadas. Terminada la faena para celebrar el descanso, dos parejas de campesinos y otra de ni\u00f1os bailan delante del carruaje al comp\u00e1s del tamboril que toca un lugare\u00f1o sentado en el extremo izquierdo del cuadro, envuelto en la capa blanca t\u00edpica del pueblo de Villaciervos. Junto a \u00e9l, una mujer y una ni\u00f1a sonr\u00eden al son de la m\u00fasica.
