La obra del artista franc\u00e9s Georges de la Tour bebe directamente de la producci\u00f3n de Caravaggio. La escena adopt\u00f3 un tema que se populariz\u00f3 al norte de Europa a trav\u00e9s de los grabados y en Roma por el ya citado Caravaggio: una anciana roman\u00ed (conocida con el t\u00e9rmino \u00abgitana) lee la fortuna a un joven que observa con cierta desconfianza los vaticinios de \u00e9sta.
