Hija de Gustavo II y de Mar\u00eda Eleonora de Brandemburgo, hered\u00f3 el trono con apenas 6 a\u00f1os tras la muerte de su padre en 1632. La educaci\u00f3n que recibi\u00f3 fue la de un var\u00f3n que heredaba el trono recibiendo lecciones de religi\u00f3n, filosof\u00eda, griego y lat\u00edn por el te\u00f3logo Johannes Mattiae quien consideraba que la joven ten\u00eda uan inteligencia brillante. Cristina, tras su coronaci\u00f3n en 1650, atrajo a su corte a una serie de cient\u00edficos, m\u00fasicos y literatos entre los que destaca Descartes debido a la petici\u00f3n de la reina de crear una academia de las artes en Suecia. Su verdadero inter\u00e9s fue le estudio pues ocupaba largas horas al d\u00eda durmiendo tan solo tres o cuatro horas. En 1653 orden\u00f3 hacer una lista de 6000 libros y manuscritos y los envi\u00f3 a Amberes junto a valiosas pinturas, esculturas o tapices donde se traslad\u00f3 en 1654 designando previamente a Carlos Gustavo como nuevo sucesor sueco. En diciembre de 1655 lleg\u00f3 a Italia donde se convirti\u00f3 al catolicismo y, al d\u00eda siguiente de su entrada, conoci\u00f3 a Bernini con quien mantuvo una amistad de por vida. Pese a instalarse en ala del Vaticano, se asent\u00f3 en el Palazzo Farnese para poder hablar y discutir con los poetas e intelectuales que all\u00ed acud\u00edan. En 1660 volvi\u00f3 a Suecia tras la muerte de su sobrino Carlos y regres\u00f3 finalmente a Roma donde se instal\u00f3 definitivamente.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
