Pese a que el Tribunal del Santo Oficoi hab\u00eda sido abolido por Mar\u00eda Cristina de Borb\u00f3n por real decreto en 1834 durante el gobierno de Francisco Mart\u00ednez, el pintor contin\u00faa la tem\u00e1tica por la que tiene especial gusto. En este cuado, un hombre cubierto con una coroza y vestido con un say\u00f3n y sambenito colgado al cuello sujeta un crufijo mientras el pueblo grita.
