La pintura de Barent Graat representa a unos burgueses holandeses en su forma m\u00e1s burlona, sin ceremonias ni etiqueta pict\u00f3rica, disgrutando de frutas y vino en una terreza sin sugerencia de exceso al margen de la opulencia de los ropajes. El cabeza de familia y la mujer se identifican facilmente en el centro e la composici\u00f3n siendo este el \u00fanico que lleva sombrero; por otra parte, la mujer aparece entronizada con una silla con brazos. Esta obra viene a demostrar como las generaciones mayores continuaron utilizando estilos que hab\u00edan pasado de moda entre los miembros m\u00e1s j\u00f3venes de la sociedad: los progenitores conservan un estilo de moda que pertenec\u00eda a los Pa\u00edses Bajos durante las tres primeras d\u00e9cadas del siglo XVII.
