Aunque la obra de Gonzalez Coques desee transmitir un ambiente de informalidad, la idea del autor pasa m\u00e1s por sugerir cu\u00e1l es el papel que desarrolla cada miembro de la familia. El hijo mayor, quien heredar\u00e1 el t\u00edtulo, juega a ser un caballero con un roc\u00f3n de batalla y sombrero de plumas. La hija mayor atiende a su hermana en un grupo. Por otra parte, el padre se opone a la vista del jard\u00edn y la madre se sienta con sus hijos dentro del espacio de la habitacional. El efecto es m\u00e1s pronunciado por la notable perspectiva de la pintura que requiere que el ojo del espectado se sit\u00fae cerca de la obra en su borde derecho. El resto de la familia aparece representada en una perspectiva sorprendentemente oblicua.
