Sin ning\u00fan significado aleg\u00f3rico, la imagen representa de manera realista una boda campesina flamenca. La novia se encuentra sentada frente a las cortinas verdes junto con una corona de papel que cuelga sobre ella. Seg\u00fan la costumbre flamenca, el novio no estaba presente en la mesa de la boda.
