Est\u00e1 situado en el Castillo de Ca\u00e9n, edificio construido bajo las \u00f3rdenes de Guillermo I de Inglaterra. Sus colecciones de pintura europea de los siglos XVI y XVII hacen que sea uno de los museos referenciales en Francia. Dentro de este rinco conjunto se encuentran representados Luca Giordano, Guercino, Perugino, Tintoretto, Champaigne, y Simon Vouet. El siglo XIX sobresale gracias a Courbet, Delacroix, G\u00e9ricault y la Escuela de Barbizon. Su Gabinete de Estampas re\u00fane m\u00e1s de 50000 grabados (Callot, Durero, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Sadeler) procedentes de la colecci\u00f3n privada de Bernard Mancel Caen (1798-1872).
