A 17th-century European peasant family scene in which the anonymous author reflects the reality experienced by the families of the time. The father, the head of the family, devotes his efforts to the hardest activities, as did the women, who were also responsible for caring for and raising the offspring and bearing the burden of family care. To this scene we can add two children, the children of the adults, who also carry out work, to the extent of their possibilities, for the family’s sustenance.
