With the aim of controlling and locating the existing documentation in a municipal archive, the inventory is an instrument for describing the documentary collections, emanating from the management of the municipality itself and, therefore, for compiling information on its history. This tool takes the form of a Classification Table structured into four sections with a historical perspective: Government, Secretariat, Services and Treasury, from which its series and sub-series are derived.
The documentary information contained in a municipal inventory orients the history researcher, helps citizens in their needs and brings students of all levels closer to visiting these documentary centres.
It is important to raise awareness in the classroom of these archival description tools, which have been created to recover documentary information and put at the service of researchers and users. Knowledge of them brings the history of the locality closer through primary sources and is of great interest for research into aspects of local history: society, demography, economy, health..
