In the descriptor that appears on the rtve a la carte website, the following summary is given:After the discovery of America, the New World under the Spanish crown takes shape. The conquests of Pizarro and Alvarado in Mexico, the discovery of the Amazon by Orellana, and the struggles between Pizarro and Almagro for control of the New World are reviewed. We will also see Father Las Casas defending the Indians. There will be dramatisations of TVE archive programmes and feature films such as El Dorado by Carlos Saura, Cabeza de vaca by Nicolás de Echevarría, Aguirre, la cólera de Dios by Werner Herzog, El rey pasmado by Imanol Uribe and El corsario by Tony Mulligan. To this end, the authors have reviewed a large part of the bibliography published to date. Among the explorers, names such as Christopher Columbus, Bartolomé de las Casas, Hernán Cortés and Diego de Ocaña stand out. Among the travellers, there is information on more than 100 authors.
