										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Edmonds is one of the few known nineteenth-century American painters who pursued dual careers in art and business, thus becoming an influential figure in the interrelated spheres of banking, politics and culture in New York. He was a regular contributor to exhibitions at the National Academy of Design and also made a name for himself for folk genre scenes inspired by the 17th century Dutch tradition.
