Located in Amsterdam, the museum dates back to 1800. It houses around twenty works by Rembrandt, including The Night Watch and The Jewish Bride. Its collection focuses on Dutch painting from the 15th-19th centuries, with works by artists such as Lucas van Leyden, Frans Hals and Vermeer, among many others. It also includes works by great masters such as Fra Angelico, Paolo Veronese, Hugo van der Goes, Rubens and Goya. The images, which are in the public domain, are accompanied by technical data, commentary, analysis and specific bibliography, which can be downloaded as a PDF file.

The Mauritshuis owes its name to Count Johan Maurits (1604-1679), for whom the building was constructed in 1640. In the 19th century it was converted into a museum to house the Royal Cabinet of Paintings. Its collection is centred on paintings from the Dutch Golden Age (17th century), so it is possible to admire in its rooms works by Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and Vermeer, by whom the museum has three works, one of which is The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Searches can be filtered according to author, period, type of object, material or inventory number.

Masterpieces in the Mauritshuis include Vermeer’s The Girl with the Pearl Earring and View of Delft, Fabritius’ The Goldfinch, Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp and Paulus Potter’s The Bull. Other paintings by Hans Holbein the Younger, Hendrick Avercamp, Van Dyck, Rubens and Clara Peeters are also essential. The images can be viewed in high resolution (with the possibility of downloading) and are accompanied by a file with general information and technical details.

Located in the Palacio de Villahermosa (Madrid), the museum was inaugurated in 1992 thanks to the private collection of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family. Its rooms house works by Duccio, Jan van Eyck, Ghirlandaio, Dürer, Holbein, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Manet, Monet, Degas and Van Gogh, to name but a few. The collection can be explored online using the advanced search engine or through four sections: artists, masterpieces, permanent collection and Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection.
