]]> Alberto Grohmann was Professor of Economic History at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Perugia from 1990 to 2011. He has edited numerous works, concentrating his scientific research on issues of economic and social history from the 11th to the 20th. century, with particular attention to the economic problems of medieval and modern Europe and to urban history. In his speech that we present here, he explores the history of the world economy from the 1990s, when the concept of globalization was affirmed, placing a comparison with the economic system of the Mediterranean area in the Middle Ages.
