										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The work of the Dutch artist van Brekelenkam is known for his depictions of 17th-century Dutch interiors, particularly through the tailors&#8217; and shoemakers&#8217; shops and other textile businesses that proliferated in Leiden in the middle of the century. The painter&#8217;s work expresses how artisan interiors were configured in which the master craftsman, the head of the family, carried out his work while being assisted by his family or apprentices in carrying out the commissions requested.
