										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The depiction of children&#8217;s leisure was one of the favourite themes of the French naturalist Chardin was strongly inspired by the 17th-century Dutch tradition in this composition. While it is not certain that he intended the image to convey a message, the soap bubbles were understood to allude to the transience of life.
