]]> Document that records the arrival of the brigantines Descubridor and Vigilante captained by Cosme Damián de Churruca, frigate captain, for the formation of a maritime atlas in North America. Before fighting in the battle of Trafalgar (1805), where he lost his life, this military man, scientist and sailor commanded some of the most important geographical expeditions to South America. This expedition consisted of two sections, one of which was to cover the islands and coasts of the Mexican Gulf and the other the rest of the continent, with the aim of forming the maritime atlas of North America. Carried out between 1792 and 1795, Cosme Damián Churruca was accompanied by José de Mazarredo and Joaquín Francisco Fidalgo.
