]]> A work by Gherardo delle Notti (Gerrit van Honthorst), a Dutch Caravaggesque painter who specialised in nocturnal scenes. It is a scene of vanity, due to the fleetingness of time that is the pleasure of music. But it has a second reading, the theft of the singer’s amulet by the other three characters.
