]]> Benito Jerónimo Feijoó (8/10/1676, Pazo de Casdemiro, Orense – 26/09/1764, Oviedo) was a Spanish Benedictine monk, essayist and polygrapher. He was the author of notable works in the Spanish language, constituting, together with the Valencian Gregorio Mayans, one of the most outstanding figures of the early Spanish Enlightenment. Among many works, he was the author of the speech “Defensa de mujeres” (Defence of Women), considered a reference work on Spanish feminism.
