It is located in the Château de Caén, a building built on the orders of William I of England. Its collections of European painting from the 16th and 17th centuries make it one of the most important museums in France. Luca Giordano, Guercino, Perugino, Tintoretto, Champaigne, and Simon Vouet are all represented in this rare collection. The 19th century is notable for Courbet, Delacroix, Géricault and the Barbizon School. Its Cabinet of Prints brings together more than 50,000 engravings (Callot, Dürer, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Sadeler) from the private collection of Bernard Mancel Caen (1798-1872). The collections are displayed according to genres, techniques and periods.

The post Caen Museum of Fine Arts.
