The Mauritshuis owes its name to Count Johan Maurits (1604-1679), for whom the building was constructed in 1640. In the 19th century it was converted into a museum to house the Royal Cabinet of Paintings. Its collection is centred on paintings from the Dutch Golden Age (17th century), so it is possible to admire in its rooms works by Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and Vermeer, by whom the museum has three works, one of which is The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Searches can be filtered according to author, period, type of object, material or inventory number.

Masterpieces in the Mauritshuis include Vermeer’s The Girl with the Pearl Earring and View of Delft, Fabritius’ The Goldfinch, Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp and Paulus Potter’s The Bull. Other paintings by Hans Holbein the Younger, Hendrick Avercamp, Van Dyck, Rubens and Clara Peeters are also essential. The images can be viewed in high resolution (with the possibility of downloading) and are accompanied by a file with general information and technical details.

The collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux is made up of works by artists such as Rubens, Van Dyck, Frans Hals, Van Goyen and Salomon van Ruysdael. The genres represented here range from portraits to still lifes and landscapes.
