										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jacopo Bassano, a painter of the 16th-century Venetian school, entitled the present work &#8220;The Forge of Vulcan&#8221;. Despite the fact that there is no mythological content in the composition, Bassano&#8217;s intention was to move away from Renaissance ideals regarding the depiction of classical scenes, thus marking a difference with his Venetian colleagues. For Jacopo Bassano the focus is on a blacksmith&#8217;s scene with figures dressed in a contemporary manner in which the subject was an excuse to observe how the light strikes the various surfaces.
