]]> The collaboration between Brueghel and Momper demonstrates, through this example, the simplicity of rural life in Flanders combined with the landscape genre and the painting of everyday life. The groups of figures were painted by Brueghel while Momper painted the landscape with its characteristic violet tones in the background. The composition is shown divided vertically into two scenes. On the left is a marketplace filled with passers-by in search of certain goods, while on the right is a washing place, an activity traditionally carried out by women.
