Panoramic view of the Alcázar of Madrid from the south and west sides. The upper part shows four angels holding a phylactery with the inscription “the palace of Madrid”. The lower part shows a small retinue consisting of a carriage drawn by four horses and accompanied by various men on foot and on horseback. At the bottom of the engraving, written in Spanish and French, we read: ‘the palace of Madrid on the side of the fields’, thus alluding to the country house. The appearance of the Alcázar is that given to it by the architect Juan Gómez de Mora in the 17th century
