Domestic chores, and in particular those connected with feeding the family, were carried out by women during the modern period. The scene in Frans Snyders’s studio shows a pantry with an infinite variety of meats: swans, fawns, wild boar, peacocks, rabbits and even fish. In addition, various fruits and vegetables are distributed in the background of the composition. The pantry, with its wealth of variety, makes the viewer think that he is in a privileged position in front of the great variety of meat, where dogs and cats fight for the best piece of meat. However, it should be put in its context as a vanity piece of decoration.
