The work by Ginés Andrés de Aguirre depicts a horseshoe shop with all the typical functions that were carried out in these spaces. Looking at the composition from right to left, we can see the manufacture of horseshoes, the difficulty of equipping horses with them – reflected in the foreground – and finally, in the left-hand margin, the exercise of riding. The work could also be read in the opposite direction, from left to right, changing the factors and the narrative discourse without changing the content.
