The Lope de Vega House Museum is located in Calle Cervantes in Madrid. It is a typical 17th century house in Spain, and is located in the well-known literary quarter where the literary figures of the time were grouped together. The rivalry between Lope and Cervantes was palpable not only in the literary sphere, but they also shared the same street, as a few metres above Lope’s house was Cervantes’. The literary man’s office corresponds to his place of work, where we find a wooden desk on which there are books and pens to carry out his work. The quantity of books preserved on the shelves, the period furniture (chairs, desk and buffet) and other elements such as the curtains and the painting behind his chair are striking.
