The documentary series The History of the World, “History as adventure, as drama, as destiny”, produced by the British channel BBC, shows with great realism some of the key events in world history, such as the arrival of Christopher Columbus in America, the atomic bomb or the death of Julius Caesar. Special care has been taken with details such as clothing, city settings, etc. Specifically, in chapter 6, some details of the first social uprisings at the end of the Ancien Régime are shown, such as the French Revolution, the Tea Mutiny, the American War of Independence, which took place between 1775 and 1783, and the rebellion of more than 100,000 Haitian slaves. The documentary does not overlook the human toll, nor the decline and erosion of revolutionary character under Dutty Boukman’s command.

Women in history: Anne of Austria

Programme dedicated to Anne of Austria (1601-1666). Daughter of Philip III, she became Queen of France alongside King Louis XIII. She was a witness to political conspiracies typical of the French court. On the death of the monarch, she took over the regency on behalf of her son, the future Louis XIV. When her son came of age in 1651, Anne of Austria’s political power faded into the background, but the queen, always surrounded by Spanish priests and religious, maintained close ties with Spain, especially with her father, Philip III. On her death, her considerable estate was inherited by her granddaughter, the future Queen consort of Spain, Maria Luisa of Orleans. The documentary shows in detail numerous events in his biography, such as his conflicts with Richelieu and his marriage strategies in favour of his son.

This 14-minute video deals with the French Revolution as one of the most important political and social transformations in Europe at the end of the 18th century. It is one of the most tense and violent periods in which the Ancien Régime was overthrown, leading to the establishment of a new regime in which the bourgeoisie, sometimes supported by the popular masses, became the dominant political force.

Eighth video game in the main saga of the Assassin’s Creed series. It represents a major advance in mechanics and gameplay, as well as in setting, thanks to a new graphics engine, which allows you to recreate densely populated urban spaces and intense activity in the Paris of the French Revolution. In the game, you control Arno Dorian, a member of the fictional Order of Assassins, who plays an important role in the shadows during the major events of Revolutionary Paris, including the formation of the National Assembly, the execution of Louis XVI, the period of the Terror and the fall of Robespierre. More historically accurate than its immediate predecessors, it also features historical figures such as Maximilien Robespierre, the Marquis de Sade and Napoleon Bonaparte, among many others.
