There was a time when people did not travel for tourism, but to develop their intellectual skills, and grow culturally. The Grand Tour was a long journey in continental Europe carried out by the rich young people of the European aristocracy starting from the 17th century and destined to perfect their knowledge with departure and arrival in the same city. This journey could last from a few months to several years. The final destination was commonly Italy, or more rarely Greece.
