This website provides a virtual tour of the Canadian Museum of History’s collection on New France. The various themes attempt to cover the territory on which New France is based, a land occupied by French settlers since 1534, when Jacques Cartier began the first of his three explorations in such an unusual and wild land. The tour shows some of the most important historical milestones of the French colonial experience. The layout of the contents is established by a series of specific headings showing objects, original texts, as well as other elements typical of the period.
