The document keeps a common pattern of documentary typology, in which the rights and obligations of each of the contracting parties are set out. Thus, the master Gabriel Marcipe is bound to give shelter in his home to the young Salvador Sánchez, to train him or to provide certain services such as assisting him with illnesses, except for contagious diseases; while the other party undertakes to remain in his master’s home, without seeking another workshop for his training. Although apprenticeship writing was common during the Modern Age, we cannot affirm that it was the majority, as a very important percentage of these contracts were established orally.
